Finback Chair

We are enormously proud that a pair of these Finback chairs sits in the permanent collection of 20th-21st British crafts at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. They were commissioned by Sir Nicholas and Lady Goodison and donated by them, through the Art Fund, to the museum.

All the joints are hidden within the wood. We use a stainless steel threaded bar, secured by boat builders’ resin, to ensure a lasting and robust construction. This technique allows us to dispense with the traditional cacophony of rails and under-frame, relying instead on the intrinsic strengths of timber.

It also allows us to give full throttle to the sculpting skills of the maker.

The story

We are enormously proud and very flattered that a pair of our ‘Finback’ chairs were commissioned by Sir Nicholas and Lady Goodison for the permanent collection of 20-21st Century British crafts which they have given to the Fitzwilliam Museum through the Art Fund. We are amongst very eminent and interesting company.
