Pebble Ceiling, suspended oak installation, Matthew Burt

Pebble Ceiling: suspended oak installation

How we work

We understand the constraints of the profession: client approval stages, lead times that have to be coordinated with other trades, and the need for clear communication from brief through to delivery. We are comfortable working from mood boards, measured drawings, or a written brief, and we flag issues early rather than late.

All work is designed and made at Lime Tree Studio & Workshops in Hindon, Wiltshire, in solid British hardwoods. We have been making to commission since 1977.

What we make

We make most categories of furniture: dining tables and seating, beds and bedroom furniture, desks and bookcases, storage and display pieces, occasional furniture and architectural joinery. We work in solid British hardwoods and can accommodate a brief that specifies a particular timber, finish or proportion.

How we work

We provide scaled drawings for client approval before making begins, samples on request, and progress updates through the making process. We are happy to attend client meetings where the brief requires it. Delivery and installation are handled by us directly, with positioning and packaging removal included.

Samples and specification

Timber samples, finish references and CAD drawings are available on request. We can produce a specification document for any piece if your process requires it. We are transparent about lead times and workshop availability from the outset.

Common questions

Can you hold to a fixed installation date?

We will always communicate clearly about the workshop schedule and flag any changes as early as possible. We understand that installation dates on a building project are often fixed by other trades, and we treat them seriously. The best insurance against timing problems is an early conversation about the schedule.

Do you work on projects outside the UK?

Yes. We have delivered work internationally. Lead times and delivery logistics vary by destination: please contact the studio to discuss the specifics of your project.

Do you work on trade terms?

Please contact the studio directly to discuss trade arrangements. We are happy to talk through how we can work best with your practice.

Can you work confidentially under a studio's brief?

We are happy to discuss confidentiality requirements. Please contact the studio to talk through what your project needs.

What timbers and finishes are available?

We work primarily in British hardwoods: oak (including tiger oak and bog oak), elm, walnut, ash, yew, cherry and sycamore, as well as other species for specific commissions. Finishing options include hard oils, wax finishes and traditional oil finishes. Samples are available on request.
